Ed Golden was born in California in 1957, right on the edge of the Car Culture Generation. He grew up with a passion for motor sports and muscle cars. He owns the “Probe” vintage dragster and rides a Harley Davidson motorcycle. There have been very few days in the past 34 years that Golden has not drawn at least one car. In Golden’s life art and the automobile are inseparable.
In his day job, Ed Golden is a Chief Designer at Ford Motor Company, working on the toughest of Ford’s pickup trucks, the Super Duty. In his 26 years as a designer in the automotive field Ed has assembled an array of 54 design patents. His has led the design teams behind award winning cars and trucks including the 2004 F-150 for which he was Design Director. He directed the entire Ford Brand portfolio during the development of the 2004 Mustang and Ford GT. Ed was also the director behind the 2007 Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln Zephyr as well as the 2007 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX. Concept vehicles under Ed’s direction include the Ford “EX”, the “Mighty F-350 Tonka” truck and the “Super Chief” concept truck which debuted at the 2006 North American International Auto Show. In off hours away from the studio, Golden indulges his passion for motor sport by creating art of dragsters, race cars, hot rods, customs and vintage aircraft for his company Speed Images.
Golden earned a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design from the prestigious Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
