Dallas October 1999. In the first round of eliminations vs. Doug Herbert, Eddie Hill's Pennzoil backed Top Fuel Dragster grenades his engine just before half-track.
This spectacular moment in drag racing was captured on film by Ed Golden and is now available for purchase for the first time. The 13 x 18 inch poster-sized image is printed in ink on Epson photo quality heavy stock and is ready for immediate shipping. In vivid color the glow of the spark plugs, still firing as the engine explodes, are clearly visible. Fuel can be seen exiting the severed fuel lines, the fuel pump still providing pressure.
This is one of the most violent engine explosions ever captured on film. You may be relieved to know that thanks to extensive safety measures mandated by the NHRA that Eddie suffered no injuries from this -Engine Gone Wild- moment. It should be noted that this very image is the basis for Kenny Youngblood's rendering Y2Ka-Boom.
